Wouldn’t it be great if we could summon a magic ‘reset’ button right about now? One push and POOF! Everything falls into its ideal order.
We might not be able to get our hands on that magical button just yet, but the Smartly Organized team has the next best thing: A Smart Reset.
Typically we encourage our clients to ‘reset’ their homes each evening for an efficient morning (and to keep everyday clutter at bay), but we get it — that may not have been a reality for everyone this past year.
Ready for a full reset in your home? Here are some tips to smartly reset your home and take back control post-Covid.
Reset Your Logistics
Digital shopping is here to stay, meaning regular packages and all of their packaging materials are making their way into your home like clockwork.
This doesn’t mean you have to be swallowed alive in bubble wrap and cardboard boxes. Staying on top of the flow of items in and out of your home will give you control over the clutter and save you a few bucks as well.
PRO TIP: Set up a shipping and receiving area in your home to keep clutter at bay and avoid losing track of items that need returning (no more finding them under a pile of clutter only to find out they’re no longer eligible for return). Consider a dedicated recycling bin to contain all of the used packaging materials that can be emptied easily into a larger recycling bin.
Reset For Back-To-School
The first day of school is just around the corner! Consequently, this means lots of books, bags, and supplies to keep track of. Let’s make sure those kiddos are organized & set up for success!
PRO TIP: Got a kid on-the-go? Utilize a dedicated bag for each activity. (i.e. one bag for school, one for soccer, one for dance.) All related items are kept with their respective bags so there’s no scrambling (or unnecessary tears!) when it’s time to head out the door.
Reset Your Work Space
You may have gotten by with a laptop and your dining room table up until now, but it’s time for an upgrade! Keeping work spaces separate and clearly identified improves focus and productivity.
It’s a good idea to stay ready for remote work. Many workplaces have adjusted their systems and procedures to enable them to go back remote if need be. Others have adopted a hybrid schedule blending both remote and in-person work. Your separate and organized spaces will ensure you’re ready at a moment’s notice, whatever the situation requires.
PRO TIP: Declutter all of the things that have built up over the year — files, unnecessary supplies, unutilized tools, etc. Keep your remaining files organized with a clear hanging organizer for quick access. Doing this will allow the space to keep work and study stations separate. We’ve all realized everyone in one space isn’t the most effective set up you can have.
Taking Back Control
Getting our homes back in order is a giant step forward in taking back a little control in our lives. Until that magic button comes along, the Smart Reset and Smartly Organized are here to restore order in a post-covid world.
